|
|
I am attempting to hack a game that uses a launcher to update the client. The when you run the launcher it writes to a file and passes information to the main game application which is called game.exe. Im assuming that the fact that the application is a exe and not a bin is helpful to me. I am trying to run the game.exe in ollyDbg. Should i just use the launcher, load the game and then attach olly or should i try and take out the checks in the game.exe?
Any suggestions...

Hey,
RF Online uses a launcher too - but I believe it is a "BIN" game, but what exactally is that and why is it not good (for us I suppose)?
Thanks

well, i dont think cheatengine and memory scanners can attach to bin files easy. I might be wrong but i've always been under the impression that attaching to an exe is easier/better than tring to attach to a bin.
In any event, regarless of what kind of file it is, which method would be easiest and most beneficial?

You can use a filter and attach to the game window and it will get you into the correct process of the game.
Doesnt matter if it is bin or exe.
For olly you need to attach to the game.exe

When I run WPE on the RF.exe client, I can read the data being sent and received - not really helpful, the max I can do is manipulate text and make items usable at any rate I want (so skip cool down).

Is where I posted whatever I have been doing.
How would i know for sure that it uses BIN?

haha its ok... umm to tell if its a bin look in the task manager. if you dont see the process than its probably a bin (i believe that is correct). Also if you look in the folder you installed the game you will most likely see a file called "gamename.bin" or somthing along those lines. Run a search in the folder for *.bin to see if there are any bin files
