I am just wondering how this speedhack thing works, it's pretty cool..

It changes some of the timing routines inside the target process, so if it wants to wait 500ms, ce can let it wait longer or shorter (depending on settings you made)

Just select the speedhack checkbox while the game is running, then type in the speed and click "set speeds"

If the game speed isn't as accurate as you wanted (e.g, you wanted a acceleration of 2, but it's only 1.2 times faster) then increase the sleeptime, it'll give you a more accurate increase in the speed. A downside of a higher sleeptime is that if it is too high the game can become choppy.
