So Metal Gear Solid 1 has this really strange bug/misconfiguration.
It maps 8 way digital movement to the analog stick instead of true analog movements which make some boss fights absolutely infuriating.
I'm not sure if this is possible or not but I'm trying to use cheat engine to maybe restore the full analog functionality.
I found the addresses for movement
Movement Registry Address - 0227487C (Static for character it seems)
Movement Address - 00D9147C (The actual movement address that writes to it)
The value is 2089616521 but it doesn't seem to change anything, it only crashes if I change too much up or down.
If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

The OG playstation controller didn't have an analog stick
It's technically possible to hack on an entirely new system that maps analog input to player movement, but that's too much work for most people

Dualshock 1 was fully supported on MGS. It's just that whoever Konami hired was dumb and didn't map the analog sticks properly.

Yeah the problem is actually "pressing" the button. There is no option for it in the emulator. We're currently working on the details of that problem.

Then it isn't the 'Master Collection' as per your title as I am certain that the publisher/developers would have implemented functionality for modern hardware for a remaster release.

Alright so apparently in the master collection MGS1 analog input doesn't work and Konami isn't even acknowledging it as a problem (at least for now). Given M2 was the one responsible for MGS1 in the master collection, I'm not sure Konami will do anything.
Hacking on analog input would likely involve reverse engineering the included PS emulator. Neither I nor anyone else on these forums (AFAIK) have any amount of experience or knowledge in PS emulation.
Hopefully it's as simple as finding the emulator's input management system and telling it to press the "Analog" button. Worst case, there may not be any system for handling analog input, even if the code for it exists in the MGS1 ROM.
If you really need analog input, perhaps the best thing to do is to "find" the original ROM and play it using some other emulator.
