How do I cheat?

I am using an emulator.
I have a base address that points to the address I need:

eg. addr1: 606XXXXX points to val: 801YYYYY.

How do i get it to change the pointed to address to be 607YYYYY

What I have done before is that i would put in the address [(addr1)]-1fa00000 and that would give me the address.

But now it seems like it is giving me an 8bit address ie 801ZZZZZ607YYYYY

lua command setPointerSize(4) might help

but it's weird that you do a -, normally for emulators a + is required to add the address of the emulated base address
