There's no way for us to know what's happening with the information provided.

For starters I would put a trace on the patched code to see if it was getting executed. If not, then would probably need to find a different injection point. It's probably not since the original code pushed a single byte and the injection pushes a dword, a difference which would likely cause it to crash.
