I want to find the value for an item that a chest contain if I open it. The game is running offline on x86 architecture and is kind of cheap coded. There are multiple chests in an area and if you press X it opens and you receive an item. The item is RNG based, so you never know. I don't know if it's calculated every frame, at game start or in the moment you open the chest.
Actually, I'm not familiar with those item drop techniques, so what are your suggestions to find this values? Btw, the Memory Size isn't that huge, like 400MB and, except of input detection and stuff, everything is done in main proccess. The game is Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity.

I've never played that game, but other games where items are concerned, it's usually best to get a couple items that you want through normal gameplay. Make sure to save the game before trying.
Search for the number of items you have. Usually 4 byte works though sometimes it's float, etc.. Normally it's easiest if you have at least 3 of the items, though sometimes you can get lucky and with 2.
Use one item if consumable, sell one to a shop, move it from main item inventory to character inventory (some games like the last Dragon Quest had main item inventory and each character had their own inventory), etc..
Now search for the new number.
In the event it's extremely rare and/or hard to come by, switching it between main inventory and a character's inventory is best bet if you only have one or 2 of the items. It might take a handful of searches though as the game will have a ton of "1" or "2."
Actually trying to make a chest pop a certain item, will be more trouble than it's worth. If we were talking about 8 or 16 bit games of the past, save editing with a hex editor would be easier to put items in inventory as you can run though every number i.e. 21 = steel sword, so 22 would typically be the next sword up, then 23, 24, 25, etc..
