*i might buy:

- Intel Core i7 - 6700K
- Asus Z - 170

so what do you think, suggest?

*yes i know they are 3 or more years old, but they fit my needs.

If you are willing to spend just a little more on the processor (assuming you are buying new) you can get an 8700K for nearly the same price as a 6700K which is extremely better. It will cause you to need some more for the motherboard as well but the benefits are really worth the little extra.

the main reason is:

a friend of mine bought a new intel 8th gen cpu and succeeded installing win7, but he mentioned some issues he ran into. (like device driver related errors and some networking issues as well, but he fixed them of course and thanks to the patches)

thats why i thought of 6th gen, didnt want to run into all these and search here and there for any problem will or might occur.

i will double think before stepping forward, thanks atom.

You can use newer gen chips with Windows 7, there is just a little bit of manual work needed to be done to get around the simple block and then manual driver handling. Basically, you would create a bootable USB drive that holds your Windows 7 install and manually add the drivers you need for your board and parts. Most brands will still carry Windows 7 drivers, which you can check ahead of time before buying to make sure the board and such you want to use is supported in that regard.

Then there are projects like this one that will disable the unsupported hardware notifications and such allowing you to still get updates if you want them:

There are similar projects to bypass the Windows 7 install stuff that may try to block you from installing on the newer chipset as well allowing you to install 7 as normal.

It's a bit of extra work, but the small added price for a much better processor is really worth it in my opinion.

Depending on what brand of MB you want, you may have to shop around to find one that has all the drivers that will fit the same requirements and setup. But it is doable.
