It was actually the FBI/CIA who made that anonymous threat and pinned it on North Korea. The only reason I suggest this is because North Korea's government said they were not involved in any way, and why would they be? It's just a fucking movie. They then stated that they would offer their resources to help investigate who actually did lead those threats. Needless to say things have escalated since then, and now the entirety of North Korea's Intranet (they don't have open easy access to the WWW like the rest of the world, it's extremely limited and modified) is down. What if all of this is just trying to find a stupid reason to go into a hot war with North Korea and Asia/Russia?

perhaps north korea is digging through their system logs to find evidence of the hack, and they forgot that searching them can cause a file lock if done wrong
and don't forget the 'patriotic' script kiddies that could launch an attack on the 1024 ip's of NK(it's the holliday season, they are at home and bored)
anyhow, one theory is that the hackers who broke in sony's systems are using north korea as a diversion to hide behind

I believe right now there is a massive DDOS to the only 4 internet connections in north korea.
They have no internet now.

the email leaks were likely internally to expose the talks between Sony and the MPAA regarding google. the threats and relation to The Interview came afterward and were likely unrelated.
