So, this question is rather simple and it may seem stupid, or it might seem like one good question.

The question in mind is, how would I find a block of text before the application encrypts it? Like things that would normally require the debugging of a mov instruction or alike to find. The game im trying to exploit uses Lua.

Any advice on this? Thanks in advance.

If you can, start up the application with OllyDbg then search for strings. It should have opened and paused the process before the strings could be encrypted by the program. If the game has an Anti-Cheat, tread carefully as Olly will most likely be detected.

One issue with this is that the string probably won't be there in the start menu (Depending on what you're searching for).

What game are you trying to retrieve strings from?

Im afraid OllyDbg wont work, this game is super sensitive. I use DVBM to debug this game.
