the server keeps a record and the client handles the values in such cases rite? so in such a case any change here on the client should reflect in the server rite?

for example i used CE on farmville... i was able to change the gold and also use it buy stuff.. the problem was after a while i got msg - ' lost sync with server. please refresh ' and when i do that, the gold gets changed back to the original deducting costs and the items for which my initial gold wasn't enough disappears.

i don't get it.. shouldn't the server notice that the gold has changed and shouldn't it change its records? What exactly is the process that is taking place there?

i m a newbie... it would really help if someone would explain in some manner i would understand.

this is what happens:
In the client you buy item X.
The client sees you have enough money so it gives you item X and reduces the amount of money on the display
Then it tells the server that you bought item X

When the server has time it checks if you have enough money. If so, it adds the item to your account, or disconnect, or send an update with the correct amount of money

After a while the client finally receives the message about the real amount of money and can not figure out what went wrong, and thus shows the message" Lost sync"

(The reason for the delay is so that when there is network congestion the gameplay won't get affected)

In short: You aren't editing client sided values at all

Find out where the server is located. Then actually go to there and install cheat engine on that (or use the local admin tools there) and change the value to what you like

If you didn't get it already, what they are saying is that its pretty much impossible.
