Why do some people pay for compilers. I don't understand is there big difference. Have you ever used paid compiler?

Typically the paid compilers come from trusted companies that have a good reputation of producing quality products. Such as Microsoft with Visual Studio. Granted, Microsoft offers plenty of ways to get VS for free so not always needed to buy it.

I've heard only compilers > 1000$ dollars are good. I'm using gcc, what about it?

Nothing wrong with gcc. Everyone has their own preference. For me, all of my development is for Windows based things, so I stick with Visual Studio.
