Do yourself a favor and stop.
Learn JavaFX, it is way better both in performance and versatility.
if you want, I can give you the source of this game.
It haves transitions, sprite animation, custom rules, event handling and multi threading (multiple parallel transitions).

No thanks. I actually looked in to JavaFX. It seems interesting and genuinely better for what I'm doing, but part of the fun in this is pushing what I can do in Swing builder for use as a class example. I'll probably look in to it for later projects, but for the time being I'll stick with Swing Builder.

If anyone could help me with this project over Steam, that'd be much appreciated.

just letting you know, that swing is quite different from JavaFX and it will be soon deprecated, so better stop learning swing and start learning JavaFX.

Yeah, I'm not really interested in continuing my work with Swing. I'll start learning JavaFX in my spare time to stay up to date. Thanks.

cheers, good luck.
also start looking into deploying JavaFX applications into phones, it is really the only good thing about it. Java sucks for desktop game dev.

I'm constantly procrastinating and not getting anything done. I'll open up the source to scrutiny and contribution if anyone is interested.
