Holy shit why did I never bother playing this, such a good game.
The combat was kinda silly in the sense that I found the squad tactics to be absolutely useless when the enemies don't use tactics themselves, they just run at you while shooting.
I never had to bother paying attention to my allies or even keeping them alive when I could just run through and two shot everything with a heat-sinked shotgun and high-impact slugs (best ammo because it turns enemies into ragdolls, essentially disabling them for many seconds).
But story and dialogue wise, the voice acting and everything was great, it felt good to play a game without a silent protagonist for once.
I've got ME2 installed and ready to go, I'm wondering if I should bother importing my save at all or just make a new Shep, any suggestions?

idk I did the paragon route in ME1 and wasn't sure if I should stay with that or switch to renegade.
Also wow I'm really loving the new combat in ME2, not sure how I feel about the mission system though.

I didn't get to keep any, the Admiral said they were all off doing things with their life.
I really wanted to keep playing with Tali and Liara, they were my posse throughout pretty much all of ME1.

i always went with garrus/liara, tried playing through the series again and ended up doing the exact same things as i did the first time
you get to chill with liara if you've got the DLC for me2 tho so that's cool at least

I have the dlc but no idea how to install it since steam doesn't manage the dlcs apparently, I was gonna look into it after beating the main game because I figured it was separate, is this the case?

not really, with that one mass effect 3 dlc it is, but most of the mass effect 2 dlcs are either more characters (kasumi is god) or more weapons/armor. there is obviously like mission dlcs which are really cool but they're not really like a postgame thing

Yeah you don't get to recruit them, but they're at least there. And knowing is nice. Storyline feels more authentic with them.

Barely have time to play games anyways.
