| Indeed, it already happened. Was big news in the Netherlands as well. Strange idea to amputate something that's not yet sick, but considering she had an 80~90% chance to develop cancer, it was the smart thing to do. The news also had some information about the current chance in percentages women have of developing breast cancer: it's quite a shocking number. Without the mutation they already have a 15% chance, and with the mutation it jumps up to the 80~90% Jolie had as well. Imagine knowing you have a 90% chance to develop cancer.

i dont see why she wouldn't just get regular checkups and then if it happened to happen then have the surgery done then
living by percentages is no way to live your life

So what you're saying is, get cancer first? Cancer is incredibly volatile, and can easily spread to other parts of the body. Not to mention you'd need radiation or chemotherapy to get rid of the remainder after the breast is amputated. My dad had chemotherapy twice, and his body was weakened severely afterwards: permanently. It was almost certain she'd get breast cancer considering the gene and age group, so I commend her for making this decision. I would have done the same if I suffered the male equivalent (testicular cancer).

im saying having something like that done because of a high chance seems unreasonable, even though its obviously the safest route
maybe it just seems that way because its so sudden, but we don't know her personal life so she most likely thought it out before choosing her decision
