Are they really as much as people hype them up? I'm looking for a good headset to buy for listening to music and I'm not too sure how to go about this dilemma with my lack of headphone knowledge. A friend of mine recommended bose noise reducing headphones claimed that they are far superior to beats.
tldr; wat r good brand quality headphones to buy.

I have Bose speakers, can't turn them up past quarter volume without risking hearing loss. If the speakers are just as good, you're in for a ride.
I have seen plenty of people using Skull Candy in the past too, and have only heard good things.

| My $20 skullcandy's have sound comparable to my $200 sennheiser's, so I would recommend them for budget listening.

From that list I'd chose bose. Skullcandies break fast, but also have excellent warranty.

I got the beats headphones (solo) and they're simply amazing, especially if you listen to high bass music. Go with something else if you don't listen to much bass music.
I also have the beatsbydre beatbox, and although its fairly expensive (around 400) the system is just insanely great for high bass music. Even has titanium headers for nice crisp treble.

The following post is my Opinion..
I honestly wouldn't recommend Beats to.. anybody really. You pay for brand name more then quality. Its like getting a pair of Puma shoes vs. a pair of waterproof durable shoes. Difference? The Puma shoes will disintegrate upon contact with water
Although, I believe the Beats do have larger magnets inside, so it packs a larger kick with Base, if you like Dubstep and such. Even then, you will probably be able to get something considerably cheeper.
So my suggestion would be Steelseries if you like Quality + Mic (For Gaming and Skype, etc.), Sennheiser if you want headset alone, with great sound quality, and Bose if you have Champaign pockets and don't mind spending a little cash for a superior payoff in quality.
Note that you CAN compare specs with headsets, which is always a good idea to do before purchase. That would count more so then just comparing brand names. Obviously, a $70 Sennheiser wont patch up with a $200 Bose set.
Good luck on your purchase!

| I've tried beats headphones borrowed from my friend and I really did not notice a difference in sound quality compared to my Skull Candy. When it comes to choosing headphones, all I care about is that it feels comfortable.

| Recently I tested my friend's bose noise reducing headphones which set him back $100 and I've never heard a better sound quality. Compared to beats which are in my opinion are way too base heavy which ruins the music for me.

Good luck on your purchase! | Disagree about Beats for electronic music. The ridiculous bass boost causes the already prevalent bass in all electronica to be waaaay too strong. It's okay if you like bass in rock music or something similar, but not electronica.

I have the Beats Studios and the Bose Quiet Comfort 15's.
I personally would recommend the Bose headphones. Best headphones I have ever used. I also have the Bose Companion speakers, amazing. Their customer service is great too.
