Cheat Engine

I'm using Cheat Engine 6.2 on a machine running 64-bit Windows 7. I can run the tutorial just fine -- until I get to the section on pointers. I know about pointers (I don't know 80x86 assembly language but I am fluent in Z80, and I know that whereas the Z80 uses dedicated pointer registers IX and IY, on the 80x86 the general-purpose registers EAX through EDX can amongst other things be used as pointers), but the trouble comes when I reach the instruction "Fill in as address the address you just found." Try as I might, I can't do this; if the "Pointer" checkbox is ticked, the "Address" edit box becomes non-writeable, and if I enter the address first, it's erased when I check the box.

Am I overlooking something? Am I doing something wrong? Have I inadvertently got a corrupt download of CE?

That is normal, if the pointer checkbox is ticked, the address checkbox becomes greyed because it will then contain the calculated final address.

You must write the address in the bottom field after the checkbox has been ticked

Also, you don't need to know too much about registers, only the memory addresses that the registers get their value from
