It gives the nolifer students extra homework in exchange for a 1-5 grading scale instead of 0-4, so A's give you 5's and B's give you 4's etc, making it easier to get close to a 4.0 gpa, or even 5.0 if all your classes are AP.
Honors doesn't affect your grading scale but it does "look better" on your transcript, honors classes are just harder but you're only allowed to take them if your gpa is over 3.5.
It's really stupid.
