It was made by the original creators of diablo 1-2 and that is why it is so much like them. A few yrs after d2 most of the people who worked on the diablo games left or were laid off. Blizzard decided they wanted to focus on games like wow that can make them more. So some of the people who left went on to make hellgate london while others went on to torchlight. So how can it be a ripoff if it was made by most of the same people? This is also why #3 is so much different as well.

Beta ended weeks ago.
You had to have signed up for the beta and then received an invitation through your email. Just like almost every other game beta...
