| I can either save up for a gaming laptop, the Sager NP9150, and get it towards the start of college in august. Or, build a really nice(and upgradable) mini-itx rig. There's no way in hell I'm lugging my atx build/heater/jet engine into a dormroom and expecting to play it without getting complaints. So I want to build this itx to be quet, maybe even a water cooled solution. I want it to be portable, which it will definitely be. And I want powerful(by my standards), which I can definitely accomplish. I just don't know what to do basically. The allure of tinkering and upgrading, and to some degree the novelty factor, of the itx build is drawing me in moreso than the sexy ass laptop. Plus I could salvage a part here or there from my current build before parting it out to friends.

While I will have a decent(by my standards) budget for this, It probably won't be enough. Maybe down the line once I pick up an actual job or start designing some professional bits of software or indie games. My budget for either one is $1600. I may have enough left over after the itx build to get a cheaper laptop actually, but I'd rather not skimp if I get a laptop period. Getting both also defeats the purpose of each individually. If I do the itx build, it's be smarter to get a nice professional, highly portable, laptop for my classes and programming in the future. Getting two gaming machines is stupid and I'd only get a gaming laptop as a desktop replacement or the occasional game when I'm hanging out around campus, but I have an appreciation of nature and music so I doubt I'd need more than that.

| I'm not the partying kind of person, I will do it, but I won't base my college experience off of it. I'm talking about doing hw or whatever out in the quad on a nice day instead of holding up in my room. Or getting some work in for the 2 hours I have between 2 classes 3 days out of the week.

| For the love of god, mini it up. Get an iPad for notes, reading, etc. Lugging around a giant laptop is fucking annoying.

I really enjoy the campus, and my medicine makes me highly analytically which only adds to the enjoyment. I see myself being outside a lot. And I will have a crapton of hw. Dual majoring in CS(focus in software engineering) and Math(most likely). Honors in both majors, lower level in math and upper level in CS.
Gotta build up a nice resume for graduate school.

Yea that's what I was thinking. Not an ipad exactly, but a smaller netbook with good specs and a nice capacity hdd. Would be much better to have the gaming separate, in my dorm, away from my easily distracted self.

I went outside almost everyday at my campus in Florida. Sat by the pool and did all my work.
