I got annoyed of this search bar after I accidentally checked the plugin install from one of the setups I was running. Ever since it got installed, it affected mozilla firefox's search engine. I was unable to use Google when searching with the address bar because the plugin replaced my original search engine, Google, even though I uninstalled the plugin.
Here's what I did:
1. Type about:config on the url and enter
2. click the button
3. type avg on the filter search
4. You will see results on bold lettering. right click on the bolded results individually and select reset
5. repeat step 4 until all of them aren't bolded anymore
6. When done, restart FireFox
7. Try searching with the address bar. Eg. sadhlasdfhskdf. See if it's gone.
8. If the problem still persists, then I don't know what's wrong.
That's all!
Note: I won't add any screenshots as this guide is really really easy to follow!
