I see some white shit (PCI of sorts?) but I don't see any PCI-E slots you could put a graphics card in. To be honest with those specs you should just wait til you can buy a new PC. A graphics card alone won't help much at all.
EDIT:
Actually that black one to the left of the white ones seems like a PCI-E. I can't find the specs so idk you'll have to wait til someone with a better knowledge of slots and shit comes in.

Buy a new PC, not a card.

The limiting factor here that you didn't think about is your power supply. Trust me, just get the card above, and you won't have to worry about PCIE cords/power issues.

For all intents and purposes, a 6670 will be the best because all you have to do is plug it in and you're done.

Sure, you can get a 6850 for $150, but you'll need a new power supply.

Trust me on this.

Does it run most high end games smoothly? That is basically all I am looking for. Also is it compatible with what I have already?

I wouldn't waste your money sterling, that thing is old and a pentium D would bottleneck anything.

It depends. BF3 on high? Probably not. BF3 on low (which mind you, still looks very good)? You could probably pull that off, even with a pentium D. You could definitely play Skyrim on medium.

I don't agree that you shouldn't make this upgrade now, but I do think you'll probably want to build a new computer at some point, but the 6670 is good enough that you'll probably be able to keep it in for your next build, depending on how much you want to spend. When the time comes, we'll help you.

And I change my mind, get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102935

The gddr5 will be worth the 10 bucks.

I'm basically looking to play average games such as CS:S, TF2, and especially Payday: The Heist.

Glad I got through, you just ignored the other people saying the same thing.
