I know the answer, but I want to test rs's algebra skills.
Senior class A and senior class B plan to go to the goodwill store. Class A rented 4 vans and 4 buses for 246 students, while class B rented 2 vans and 7 buses for 398 students. Every van had the same number of students per van. Every bus had the same number of students per bus.
Find how many students are in each bus.
Find how many students are in each van.us

4x+4y=246
2x+7y=398
It's just systems of equations. I normally solve with substitution.
2x+7y=398
2x=398-7y
x=199-(7/2)y
4(199-(7/2)y)+4y=246
796-14y+4y=246
796-10y=246
-10y=-550
10y=550
y=50
50 students per bus
2x+7(50)=398
2x+350=398
2x=48
x=24
24 students per van
