Not quite sure I understand. What's the point of being in a pool if you just get a % based on how much you generate?

edit: I'm in a pool that generates ~80GH/s, while my laptop generates 1.4MH/s. Should i even bother mining?

Hmm. I have a handful of computers that I used to have running F@H. Possibility of running my own pool? I don't know anything about mining. Anyone care to give me a quick overview before I google?
