Yes. Skip Clear Sky unless you're into the story for some reason. Go vanilla for your first playthrough, and if you like the game, fuck around with mods and shit in CoP.

No, dear god don't Shadow of Chernobyl vanilla your first playthrough. I did it once I really liked the game, but it's an awful way to start.

No, no, no. Get the Complete 2009 (or Complete 2012 if it's out yet) for SoC. Then Play CoP without any mods or with CoP Complete. Then play CS with CS Complete, but be wary that even with CS complete it's completely broken.
You have to be able to put up with lots of bugs playing these games. Vanilla CS is damn near unplayable if you don't do things with EXACT precision the way the game was designed, which kind of doesn't make sense considering it's an open world. Vanilla SoC is pretty hard to get through. Vanilla CoP is fine.
