Honestly, more than half the people there are protesting for shits and giggles, then the remainder doesn't even know why they're protesting. Maybe a small sliver has legitimate complaints, but they're still dumb for protesting about it because it's not like they're being deprived of any rights. _________________

They're being deprived of a lot of rights, although I do agree that most of them don't even know why they're there.
Occupy Sacramento for example is a fucking joke. They have a 'Message Team' working on the reason for why they decided to camp out at the Cesar Chavez park.
1% of the nation owns 50% of everything, and nothings being done to help the rest of the 99%. In 2008, a backdoor agreement was made to where the banks would use billions of tax payer money to bail themselves out, even though congress had voted No.
The nation is far from what it was at this point and is seen as a 'plutonomy' by the corporations who run it.

Welcome to capitalism. If you don't like it, no one's stopping you from moving to China. _________________

Yeah, because the only way to incite change is just to give up and go somewhere else.
I like your ideals.

If you're trying to say capitalism is bad, well I think there's plenty of people who will disagree with you. I won't waste my time; if you want to be stupid I suppose I can just let you.
Come back and rub it in my face when you've "incited change," please. _________________

Capitalism: A Love Story
Watch it, it's a good movie.
It was also produced and distributed via capitalism. Funny, huh?
Please explain to me why how large the gap between the rich and the poor matters. Anything resembling "the people with less money aren't able to express opinions to the public because the rich flood the political process" is untrue; there are plenty of ways to get public attention using already existing communication platforms, and this protest is an example of one, ironically. It seems that, "so long as the gap is smaller, you would rather the poor were poorer."
I bet that all those rich people are running scared now. Humans were never equal and they never will be. Get used to it. Leaders are coming and going but equality is always just a good cause to grab some power. _________________

The reason for why the rich are richer is far more complicated than just taxes alone. For example, those who are smart enough to use new technologies(the internet) can gain billions in months or a few years. Like Mark Zuckerberg who went from an average college student to riches. Compare this to the poorest like someone who dropped out of high school who will struggle to find a job that pays more than min wage because of globalization. What can you do? increase min wage? No all that does is create inflation and encourage out sourcing. _________________

Progressive tax brackets attempt to redistribute wealth. The point of the video is that many (socialists in particular) would prefer lower income levels across the board (yes, trickle-down economics works, evident by historical statistics) as long as there are smaller gaps between them (i.e. the reward is closer to being the same for everyone). For example, it wouldn't matter if someone could have made billions of dollars if all income above $250,000 is taxed 100% (which it would have been, had FDR had his way). Why do you expect people to be still willing to put in as much effort if the reward is less? The Laffer curve may interest you.

well another reason why they pay less taxes because of how the system works. Most ppl are paid by income and thus pay a relatively higher income taxes. However most ceos receive their income not by a flat paycheck but rather by stocks and shareholds. This means if they are good and the bsn is doing well, they get paid more and vice versa. It is true they pay less in income tax because they get paid differently. Honestly its just a bunch of pissed off ppl that lost their jobs and need an escape goat. _________________
