I know this is based on a true story, but did the family really survive at the end or was it bullshit? It seems very hard to believe.

My friend told me it was. Looked it up and got this from some blog thing.

"The Hills Have Eyes is loosely based on a true story. it came form an article in the New York library about the Sawney Beane Family. In the 1700s in Scotland there was an area that had road running through it from Scotland, and people thought it was haunted because people kept disappearing from that road. The story came out when a couple was attacked by these wild looking people, and one got away. and they sent out an expedition which resulted in finding a cave along the English Channel."

I know I can't always believe what people say that is why I'm going to do some more research.

Ussually when loosely based on a true story is said, they probably get the name of a location from a hoax or some shit.
Just use your common sense man.
