How do I cheat?

Occasionally when I use control_getCaption() function to get text from a TCEEdit, or TCEComboBox control there are a few characters of junk at the end of the returned string. For example if I place a TCEEdit and TCEButton control on the form and execute this:

TempText=control_getCaption(CETrainer_CEEdit1);
print(TempText);
I get a string with random characters added to the end . At the same time It does not appear to be completely random because in each stuation the character is the same (for example if '99' was in the box TempText would be '99o' consistently unless I changed something in the code). Since it is a number and there is only one bad character at the end I managed to solve this by removing the last character if there is an error but the problem i now face is with comparing strings and more added characters. I am not sure if this is a bug or if i am doing something wrong because I don't have much experience with this program and Lua.

sounds like a string incompatibility between ce's internal fixed size length strings and lua, I'll look into it
