According to the web, Intel's upcoming Sandy Bridge E has 5 different Patsburg chipset SKUs--Patsburg A, B, D, T, and X. Look at it from the Xeon line up we get the differences between each SKU...
-Patsburg A: 4 SATA 6Gb/s ports
-Patsburg B: same as A with SAS support
-Patsburg D: additional 4 SATA/SAS 6Gb/s ports (total of eight) and PCIe 3.0 uplink to CPU
-Patsburg T: same as Patsburg D with additional RAID level (level 5)
And finally we get to Patsburg X which is the consumer based version of the Intel Sandy Bridge E chipset. Originally, Patsburg X will be the same as Patsburg D with additional fine tuning targeted for the consumer. But with the problems coming out of it, Intel may have have to downgrade that to Patsburg B where it will loose 4 additional SATA/SAS ports and PCIe 3.0 uplink to CPU.
Also according to the web, some Sandy Bridge E CPUs info have leaked to the web. Intel upcoming Sandy Bridge E CPU will be Intel Core i7 3000 series and so far only 3 models are known at this time and they are...
Intel Core i7 3960X @ 3.3GHz/3.9GHz (turbo) 6C/12T & 15MB L3/6.4GT/s (unlocked)
Intel Core i7 3930 @ 3.2GHz/3.8GHz (turbo) 6C/12T & 12MB L3/6.4GT/s
Intel Core i7 3820 @ 3.6GHz/3.9GHz (turbo) 4C/8T & 10MB L3/4.8GT/s (may cost the same as Intel 2600K but it's locked)
