It's not a Halo clone, it's just a modern FPS. It's just as linear as Duke Nukem 3D but without the boring backtracking and shit.
"Everything is scripted" no fucking shit, stop playing 90's FPS games and get with the times... Duke Nukem 3D wasn't anything new back then (aside from the obvious mature take and comedy), I don't see why people expected this game to be any different.

i actually hate regen health (fuck halo, i suck at it, yes i don't like being bad at things) but honestly, i dont give a fuck. dnf might be great, might be bad, who knows.

I've been watching it streamed on Brocraft and I played the demo. It's a pretty awesome game. Fucking hilarious and lots of tits. Plus awesome mini games. I'm curious about the multiplayer.
Not as nostalgic as some might have hoped it would be (gameplay isn't anything like DN3D), which probably affects the reviews negatively. But gameplay and entertainment are more important than nostalgia imo. For sequels at least.
I'd say you should just think of it as an entirely different game when you play. Or you'll not be as satisfied.

I think the hype surrounding it has more to do with the timeline of it's release and how long it's been "in development". I've always loved the Duke series, but had no interest whatsoever in this latest one.
