I am making a game using Sencha Touch and PhoneGap but I figure I will also need an in-depth knowledge of JavaScript and CSS. Does anyone have recommendations on places to learn these 2 ? At the moment I have a tiny bit of knowledge of JavaScript but no knowledge of CSS but I will be wanting to learn it to an advanced level.

Sorry to bump this, but I went a bit through the forums and saw this.
You can make games with gamequery. http://gamequery.onaluf.org/
Looking at the example, it seems pretty good.

Thanks but those technologies would not have been appropriate for game development for devices. I guess I forgot to make that clear but I thought it was implicit from the fact I was using PhoneGap.
To follow up, I finished quite a bit of the game in Sencha Touch and a JavaScript library but found it too slow on iOS. I'm going to go full native now (and lose portability )

So are you making them as apps for iOS now?
