Would it work if I played the pirated version with Complete SK9 while Steam takes it's fucking time to download, and then modded the steam version and moved the save over?

Yep just drop the save into the save folder.

I'd wait to buy it, Steam always throws the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games in sales. I got both of my games for like $10 total.

I already bought it (after I pirated it) I just didn't want to wait 5 hours to play it, or play it now only to find out that I couldn't. Thanks Cryoma.
