And it only costs more than my entire rig. It is a dual gpu though, right? I think I could settle for a 6970 though, since its roughly half the price.

High end performance is getting so ridiculous, a 6870 would probably give you 100+ fps on BFBC2. You really would only need the big guns for gaming at 1080p and beyond.

Battlefield 3 requirements will need something much stronger and I would like to play on dx11.

Give it a few months and the prices for 6970s should drop slightly, given the competition from Nvidia's inevitable response.
Now debating whether I should CF 6950s as my spring upgrade, grab a 1156 board and a i7 870 cheap, or this. I can't seem to justify $150+ on a measly 10-20fps improvement.

their rendering guy has said bf3 should be alright if you ran bc2, so expect it to be scalable.
supposedly faster on dx11 hardware since various optimizations were impossible

It's sort of funny that AMD is completely done with the top end of the 6000 lineup this early in the year, but there's nothing on the lower end. I can imagine that a 6670 for 100 bucks would be a big hit.

They just want their 5xxx to thrive in today's GPU competition, and keep 6xxx for affordable gamers .
I'm gonna go for a GTX580 though

Going for the HD 6950, and then flashing the BIOS for a pseudo HD 6970.

how does that even work? just curious | I guess by flashing the bios it sets the defaults of a 6970. Then you can OC it for more.
