Recently got a laptop from a friend that had water damage. So far the HD & screen are bad, it can boot a Linux live CD fine with no stability problems. I'm planning on repairing it and either keeping it for myself, selling it back to him @ what it took to repair it or selling it to someone else and was wondering what you all think would be a fair price if I were to sell it to someone else.

This is the laptop: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2008/MSeries/M-1634u/M-1634usp3.shtml

I plan on getting a 320GB 7200RPM drive and a brand new screen for it. The charger also went bad during the flood so I bought a new universal charger I can include for around $30. Would be nice if someone could find what the original price of it was too, and post any similarly-specced laptops that you know of.

This is all in USD.

This says 629USD, so Im sure it couldnt have been much more. It has some age looking at specs.

Well they're selling it refurbished at $530 then, so I should be able to get easily $400 out of it, which is an easy profit over around $200 in parts to get it working/looking like new.
