and I just happened to notice some funny things. In the Black Tower series you get the feeling that Roland is a tribute to Reimu, (as they both shoot bullets) and the Crimson King could obviously have been inspired by Yukari. In Under the Dome two touhou characters are mentioned by their first name (Wriggle, Patchouli) and one is mentioned in her full name (Medicine Melancholy).

It's hardly conclusive evidence, but King might just be a touhou fan!
