You are trying to just directly convert a string to an integer. You need to cast the text into buffer as an integer, which you can use the Convert namespace to do it.

1. don't try to catch exceptions you don't need to
2. type 'convert class' into google

If you don't understand what I said you probably are copy pasting code and/or don't understand what you are doing overall. I'd suggest you go back and learn the basics of the language you are using if you plan to attempt to program. Small issues like this are typically a result of not reading and just jumping into things too fast.

When i run this i dont get an error. and if i type a invalid value in textbox1.text the the message box pops up the so the buffer works.

Wouldn't is much be easier to make a trainer on C++ instead of VB?

No, Vb.Net and C++ are two very different languages; my opinion is that Vb is much easier to use because it uses common english than C++ that uses symbols.
Example:
C++:
cout << "Hello World";
VB:
printf("Hello World")
Therefore, VB has very different or maybe similar to some of it's command.
If you are going for making flash trainers, it's best to stick with either VB or C++, but i bet VB is the choice. Else if you are going for making trainers for app games, C++ is for you.

c++ has printf as well.
but, c++ would be faster to make the trainer functionality but might take longer to "design".
