I have a COMPAQ Presario PC that I need to add more ram in

SR5210NX is the Model and according to their site

It says expandable 2GB

Right now it has 1GB Ram (2 x 512mb Sticks in each slot)

Am I able to buy a 2GB ram stick and put that in one slot for a total of 2.5GB?

Just a little bit confused on how much each slot can fully hold

No but you can have 2 x 1 GB modules. It's maximum is 2GB no exceptions.

This is what you get for buying a shitty prebuilt pc. They put limits in the bios or something. If you had any other mobo that was not prebuilt it would hold 4x2gb normally if it has 2 slots. Or most recent ones from the past 5 - 10 years would.

You can always try and see what happens
Sometimes a manual is printed before compatible 2 GB modules have been made so they say the max modulesize is 1GB
