I have a epson workforce 323 printer that i just got

and I installed the drivers for my win 7 64bit computer

It prints fine, but the scan utility just doesn't open

I double click it, and It just shows up at the taskbar for a second and closes

after that nothing happens

I tried running compatibility mode for older versions, but still same problem!

Any help?

Had the same exact problem you're having but it was on XP and I had to modify a registry entry.

I'll see if I can find that piece of paper I've wrote it on.

How to fix Epson Scan

Problem: When you click on the Epson Scan software, it opens only in the taskbar, flashes a few times, then closes off. The user cannot interact with it.

Fix: Remove offending registry entry

Do a backup of the registry entry before, applying the fix

How to:

(UAC allow or prompt)

Open regedit
Go to HKEY_Current_User>Software>Epson
Delete the folder "Epson Scan"

Restart

Looks like, it only works for XP then?

Try to set in compatibility mode

What OS do you have, certain editions of Vista or Windows 7 have their own build in scan utility. You may want to try that as a alternative.

According to Epson's site. They only got the drivers for the scanner, but this does not indicate the scanner utility is included.

On another forum, some say Windows 7 install it's own Epson Scanner driver, you may want to do is manually force install the scanner driver from Epson and see if that will get the scanner utility to work.

You are running it as administrator, yeah? And make sure your AV windows defender isn't conflicting with it.

I'm assuming you've tried uninstalling the printer software all together, restarting the computer then reinstalling it again*?

*Remember not to plug in your printer until the Installation asks you to!

Yeah tried to disable AV
i've tried uninstalling it

but i finally gave epson a call and after 1 hr of long distance of me on the phone
they finally sent me a utility to fix the problem, that cleaned all remains of there software
and i did another reinstall
thankfully it worked

this thread can be closed
