It has come to my attention that I need a better way to show more contrast in my drawings... blah blah blah, here's a copy/pasta from my DeviantArt:
Quote: | I've got these really detailed drawings floating around in my head, but I just can't get them to work on paper... I've concluded that it might be the supplies I'm using.
Right now, I just use assorted mechanical pencils on assorted sketchbooks and I blend with assorted stumps. And so, I'm asking you for help... what sort of pencils or other tools do you think would work best for my style of art? I'd like to get as detailed as possible. Most of my work is done at school, so I can't use a huge workspace (though that would probably help a lot).
I feel so restricted right now, I know I can do better.
I'll look into as many suggestions as I can. This may change the outcome of my future work entirely. |
So yeah... suggestions are appreciated. _________________

Alright, I found a few 6B pencils lying around I'll test one out tomorrow. Looks like an interesting tutorial/helpful dvd, I'll look into it, probably covers most of the supply suggestions I'm needing.
Anything else? _________________

Screw that, try pastels or charcoal and use one of the specialised rubbers for it. |

You won't be able to do anything during class without bringing attention if you bring out pastels or charcoal. _________________

as long as you get good marks you are fine with teachers.
In my school teachers even used to let me sleep in their class because my average was of 15/20 (( it is something about a B or B+ I think )) |

Just tested it, it's a bit rough... not used to it. It is darker, better for showing more contrast. But it's difficult to fit any sort of detail in with it.
I'll try what Gogo does and just bring a bunch of different pencils.
Any specific suggestions? A good brand or something?
@ r34p3r, I've tried pastels and charcoal. Far too messy for me, not my thing. _________________
