Hey.
I am planning on buying a new phone in the next few months.
I've always wanted an iPhone, and not because it's an iPhone. Ever since the 3G.
I want something new so if I do get an iPhone, i will get the iPhone 4.
I currently don't like the fact that the iPhone costs $1000 here in Australia (32GB), and the Antenna issues and other stuffs.
I am currently also interested in the upcoming HTC Desire HD. Bad side is that I think its locked to Vodafone/3 here in Aus.
This brings my question.
What phone would you guys recommend me get, price isn't a major issue as long as it doesn't surpass iPhone 4 32GB cost.
It needs to have:
Large touch screen at least 3 Inches or larger
Running a decent OS (iOS, Android 2.1+, WP7)
Have a good camera, preferably 5MP+, 720P recording.
Accelerometer
Bluetooth
It should have:
802.11 N
Not very thick
MicroSD (if no large internal storage)
Thanks

Are the newer droid phones available over there?
They do all you want and much surpass it.

I like Android, but i also like iOS. iOS to me is sexier, and the app store is probably the biggest reason why I want an iPhone over an other OS phone.
I was going through www.gsmarena.com and found that they have an awesome Phone Finder which I recommend to anyone. After I completed my query, here were the Results.
I am currently thinking between the iPhone 4, HTC Desire HD and Motorola Droid X. I'm not sure if any networks here in Australia offer CDMA so Droid X probably isn't an option. Again i'm stuck between iPhone 4 and HTC Desire HD.

Droid, Droid Incredible, Droid X, Droid 2, anything but the HTC Droid.
They're all incredible devices.

HTC HD2 runs Windows Mobile, yucky. I really wanted that ages ago.
Nokia N8 runs Symbian, yucky.
Blackberry, yucky.
Droid X CDMA, yucky.
I am still considering the iPhone 4 and HTC Desire HD.

| Don't know why people hate the iPhone so much. It isn't a bad phone.

I agree. It has a very good UI in my opinion.
Though I do agree it has flaws compared to other phones such as:
| GSMArena wrote: | * Hardware design is prone to reception issues
* MicroSIM card support only
* No Flash support in the web browser
* No true multitasking for all applications
* FaceTime video calls work only over Wi-Fi
* No file transfer over Bluetooth or USB Mass Storage mode
* No hardware shutter key for the camera
* No FM radio
* No stereo speakers
* No microSD card slot
* No smart dialing
* Too dependent on iTunes for loading multimedia content
* Poor loudspeaker performance |
To me, the MicroSIM ain't an issue as I'll cut my regular Sim.
I won't be using Facetime. I am not fussed about radio or hardware shutter key.
MicroSD is no biggie because of 32GB internal storage.
What I am not happy about though is the no flash, no true multitasking, itunes dependency, no bluetooth transfer or file system, and loudspeaker performance, and also price, oh and Antenna issue.
Wow that's a lot more then I expected.
I highly doubt the HTC Desire HD will have any of the above issues.
If only Android had the same appstore as iOS, it will make my choice a whole lot easier.

>true multitasking
you can't multitask on a phone anyway, it just makes shit launch faster, which is nice.
As for the phone, it depends what provider you go with,

What do you mean there is no true multitasking for a phone?
So what kind of multitasking is android then?

From browsing their app store, there is a lot of similarities in the major apps. (especially the paid ones)

You can have multiple apps open at the same time, they will just chill in the background if you go to another process.
Holding the home key down will bring up a little list of things running and clicking one will switch to it. You can switch back and forth between things easily. You don't have to stop doing anything to go do something else.

I also thought that, but only for the major apps. There is a lot of other apps which don't look so appealing though.

Isn't that the same as iOS multitasking? I always thought Android phones had true multitasking such as a Windows/Linux/OSX OS.
P.S I forgot to thank you guys for helping out.

I think under iOS, apps will simply stop doing anything if you leave them in the background.
You can start loading a video or something on Android and switch to something else while it loads.
I don't own an iphone, so I'm just going by what I've heard.
