Lets say I've spent a lot of time creating a bot, just for my own knowledge in programming/scripting, and I don't really have any use for it anymore. Would it be 'illegal' for me to sell it to someone, through ebay, for example?

Or would it depend on small texts in the T.O.S?

By bot do you mean game trainer or cheat, if so then yes you could sell it, no it is not illegal, yes it is a violation of any games TOS to do so. Usually in the TOS of games or software at some point you agree not to reverse engineer the code, creating a trainer, bot, or cheat means you have done this. I have yet to hear of someone getting prosecuted for violation of TOS though.

Well, it depends on how your bot works.

e.g if you use a hook overwriting bytes and writing them at another location to jump back, then that could be seen as copyright infringement

also if the bot makes use of images for recognition and you use actual images to look for instead of hashes then those images again will be property of the game's developers

And if your bot reads packets and sends packets without the client doing it then that again could be seen as hacking

so just make sure you don't do any of the above and you should be fine

MMO Glider or whatever for World of Warcraft, as well as server emulation of World of Warcraft.
