Pretty easy to figure out... position the end of the soldering wire on whatever it is you're soldering, then melt it with the soldering iron/gun.

I have a broken headphone jack on my ipod touch, but using a wire, i found connectinv two parts together made the sound work again however every tut i read about soldering requires "tinning the soldering iron" i dunno how the fuk to do this shit. I thought id just attach a wire from point a to point b by soldering it with das heat. halp

Bro, tinning the soldering iron is whiping solder over the end of it to give it a shiny metallic sheen. This helps the iron conduct heat better.
