So I'm trying to reinstall EMS but when I go to open the game It treats it as a virus and deletes it. I have tried adding it as a trusted program but it won't let me. Any suggestions on what the hell is going on?

Edit - I'm also having a fuckton of trouble playing L4D2. It takes around 10 minutes to load a level and at the end it will always not respond. I don't really have any problems with any other steam games (Except sometimes TF2). Is it possible to run steam games without steam in the background?

Right click on the tray icon and go to the Firewall menu, then set it to gaming mode and voilla.

If that doesn't help, open the main menu of AVG and disable real time protection in one of the options (Forgot which one it is since I use Microsoft Security Essentials)
