That's right, another one. This was actually the original drawing, before I transferred it to illustration board.

EDIT: Here's a colored version. Colored with Prismacolor markers... poorly.

I just hope you didn't do that on the original paper .__________.;;

because.. really the only thing that looks pretty good colored are the petals.

well maybe saying the only thing that looks pretty good is a little exaggerated but ... .__.;;

Oh no, of course not. I've watched a lot of art videos and taken a lot of classes, one they they almost always teach is that it's always best to leave the original untouched when it comes to coloring. Besides... I wanted to see how good the copying/printing part of my new machine worked :3

It would have looked better if I had continued coloring while it was still wet instead of taking breaks and starting again. Prismacolor doesn't blend well once it dries, but when it's wet, it works great.

Oh also, I'm not sure how/why, but it looks worse on the computer than it does on paper.

Vines are awesome, and petals are not bad, but the rest looks gay (coloured).

your shading seems lacking , you cant tell where the light source is so it looks like you pillow shaded it , and don't be afraid to really cast shadows.

What? I think the light-source looks pretty obvious, it's coming from the right.
Some light comes from the left and bottom because of bounce-light(light reflected off of other surfaces).
I did forget to cast a shadow on the ground though, bottom left.

On the colored version, shading was difficult, since I don't have a good array of colors to choose from. I'm gonna by a shading/highlighting (black, grays, and white) set eventually though.

No offence but it REALLY looks like you were playing Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles while making this. It looks exactly like an enemy in the first/second level.

I like the colouring a lot. The only thing I don't like is the leaf. Needs more teen angst? Slash that, needs more accenting on the veins of the leaf and more shadowing. Oh, I like the beak, the colouring really creates a sense of depth and I think the colours contrast well with the rest of the drawing's palette. Oh and while I like the simplicity and smoothness of the petals colour, the seperate mouth, in the back is a bit too smooth, try more shadowing on that one, I think. My opinion though. Might not be match by others.

Beautiful original drawing.

The colored version is good too, but the distinctively colored leaf bothers me.

====

I have a question for you to contribute to my knowledge of coloring with markers.

When you make a copy to color, do you 'shop it until it's reduced to pure lineart, or do you leave the shaders there to add texture?

Or are the markers a paint-over type, that completely masks the paper?A
