I have decided that since I am getting back into PC gaming big time I should upgrade my computer here are my specs;
Manufacturer: Acer
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 1790MB RAM
Hard Drive: 76 GB
Video Card: Radeon X1950 Pro
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.100218-0019)
To start I was thinking get W7 and 4Gig RAM (Any suggestions on which to get? I'm kind of new to this). Also what else do you think I should upgrade?

Everything. Might as well start a whole new build if your hardware is too old.
CPU name, MoBo model? Budget?

Haswell's right, if you actually "want to get into" PC gaming "big time," you're gonna want to start off on a better foot than that. Get as much money together as you can and come back with a budget and we can put together a build for you.

Sell that crap and custom build one. You'll need a hell better processor/graphic card and HDD if you're going into PC gaming big time. And if you're getting W7, by all means go for 4gig ram, you'll need it.
Acer sucks anyway.

| No offense dude, but that build is crap. Dual core is massively obsolete in the gaming world these days. Today, a 6 core is the mean with quad cores following for the older gamers. Pretty much no one uses dual core for heavy gaming anymore. As for RAM, that depends on your board and whether you're installing a 32 bit or 64 bit OS. You'll also definitely need to get a new GPU. Depending on the board, I think either an Nvidia GTX 280 or ATI Radeon HD 4870 should be enough. And if you have some extra cash to throw around, I would suggest getting a solid state drive instead of a hard disk drive. Loads crap from your drive a hell of a lot faster.

@above: not everybody has money to waste. Grabbing a hexacore processor purely for gaming purposes is utter waste of money, as most games utilizes 1-2 cores only, sometimes up to 4 cores. Your graphics cards of choices are way sub-par compared to cards today, in which the budget cards are GTX 460 and ATI 5770 (quite surprised that you chose old cards to pair with new hardware). Lastly, not everybody needs a friggin' expensive SSD, any 7200RPM harddrive would do nicely, not to mention storage space.
