|
|
So I used to listen to pretty mainstream stuff, but recently found some nice and lesser known death metal. As well as chiptunes.
The problem is, that in Canberra (I am on holiday here now) the music shops only sell mainstream. And there are no music shops in Papua New Guinea.
Does anyone know some non-mainstream genres I should at least listen to? I want to expand my music library, but need something new to listen to.

Bleeding Through

Chiptunes, you say?
Chances are you wouldn't go for everything I'm into, but you could chill out a bit and revisit blues, maybe Leonard Cohen, and calmer rock -- try some Velvet Underground or Donovan on for size.
If you don't dig any of that (granted, none of them are really obscure except in contrast to mainstream), get The Mars Volta's The Bedlam in Goliath or Grand Hooded Phantom by Your Highness Electric. Most of what new stuff I listen to doesn't easily slip into specific genres.
