|
|
According to various sites on the web, here are some info for the GTX 460
-There will be 2 versions: 768MB w/192bit GDDR5 and a 1GB w/256bit also running on the same memory type.
-Specs are both the same at 675MHz for GPU, 3.6GHz for memory, and has 336 SP (stream processors).
-The TDP for the 256bit is 10 watts more than then 196bit version which has a TDP of 150 watts.
-Currently Nvidia users wish to run 3 displays/3D surround will require 2x Nvidia Fermi (or GTX200 series) based cards in order to achieve this while AMD users can do the same just with a single card. A display port is added to the 256bit version only along with a dual DVI and mini-HDMI. Don't know if this NV's 3 display single card solution to AMD's eyefinity.
-Launch date is around 7/14 or earlier
-Pricing varies, where some day the 192bit to be around +/- $200 while the 256bit to be around +/- $250
-The cards are in direct compete with the HD5830/HD5850

$200-$250?
Might pick up one of them, seem rather awesome compared to my 260GTX

How can they be in direct compete with the 5850 when it surpasses even the 470 in performance?

Yes, a 5850 is better than a 470.

Yes, a 5850 is better than a 470. | I was told a 470 was 10% faster than a 5850 and on par with a 5870 depending on the game. Frame rates will always vary of course.

Well, as far as the benchmarks I've seen go,the 5850 is better. The 470 really isn't usually as good as the 5870, though. There's also every physical drawback of the 400 series, size, heat, noise, and power. Even if it's not better in raw performance, the 5850 is better in general.
