hex core wouldn't make any difference in gaming for now
as for the combos, it's either ASUS or HIS, your choice

Unless we are at the year of 2014, i doubt you know multi-core any games that isn't benchmarks
Maybe, resident evil 5, and upcoming Crysis II, Bad Company is just bad at ulitying the other two cores.

Well i guess im just gonna stick with x4. ill upgrade when it is absolutely needed. But now i don't know if i should get the Asus or the HIS one.. They both come up to the EXACT same price.. Ahh! The only diff that i can find between the two cards is that the asus has pci express 2.1, but it doesn't matter because my mobo can only take 2.0

ASUS have voltage tweak, which is useful for overclocking past the limit.

Pci 2.1 only means that the card will work on Pci 3.0 when it comes out.

RE5 and BC2 scale fine over 4 cores, it's just that by that point you've effectively shifted the bottleneck to the GPU.
