I want to study something IT-Related when I leave school, but I've also been doing business for the past year and a a half and was going to do that also, until I realised how awesome history was. It's made the past 9 weeks fly and I enjoyed it thoroughly. My problem is both cert 1 business and ancient history are in the same block, meaning I have to pick one. In order to do BCT (cert 2 in business) in y11, I have to do cert 1.
So tell me, what good it-related career paths that wouldn't have business of any kind as a requirement are there? I just, I really fucking love history.

You love history, but there aren't that many jobs for it.
You dislike business, but there are more jobs for it.
Just gotta find the balance.

It's not that I dislike business, it's just that.. You have no idea. History made school exciting, waiting for the next lesson, it made me fucking enthusiastic about school.
D'you reckon there's a during-school TAFE course for cert 1 business?

| I loved history in high school but now I'm in college i have rediscovered my love for science (Mostly chem and psychology) The main problem i have found with history is looking for jobs, I would love to work in Egypt but I have no idea how I would even begin to get contacts/apply for jobs.

Is there a requirement that you have to be present in all the classes ?
If not, you could go to both and just skip every other class

The only reason I cannot do both is because they are in the same blocks. We have 2 core subjects and 5 blocks to pick out of, one out of each block. There's atleast 2 of everything except for the main two I was looking at doing. That's my luck.

Business will help you get a managerial position, history will entertain you for a short while. Not that hard of a decision.

| History is like philosophy when it comes to jobs. It's only useful if you want to be a teacher or other job with similar characteristics. I'd go for what's more productive. If you must satisfy your need to study history, then take the summer semester for it. Of course, there are other alternatives. Shoot for the business path and once you have a handle in it, try getting back in school as a part-time student and take a full set of history classes.

The history lessons that You will learn in school are far from the whole truth and You will discover it by Yourself when You start spending Your free time to read articles in themes that may be interesting for You. If You have learned enough, You know already that history is always recorded from the perspective of the recording person. It is enough if You read Rommel's and Montgomery's works. Of course they are the opposite of each other. This is the same with all other persons and ages. In school, You will learn only ONE perspective while the truth is much more complex and is somewhere between the left and right side. If You do not believe it, simply check out old history books that were used in schools. You will see that what You learn is always what the "system" is trying to tell You. Like if You are in a communist country, "of course communism is the best", but if communism is over, "it was shit and hellish".
What I am trying to tell is that if You really wish to learn, You can simply skip the part that they would tell You in school and start researching by Yourself. If You will learn history in school only, You will know nothing about it. If You can read, You can learn by Yourself anytime. A teacher can teach You a perspective but it is just a small part of the vast knowledge that can be discovered only by Yourself.
Actually if You wish to learn it, You do not need the very very basics because You can read it by Yourself, and if You wish to learn it in school only, then You are not enthusiastic enough for this.
Well I hope it is not offending to anyone but my teachers would also agree with this. If Your history teacher is really good, he/she will help You to learn history, recommend books for You and maybe give You special lessons. If not, then he/she is not a good teacher at all so why would You learn in that class...
