The performance difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is not that noticeable. I mean it is improvement but not worth the expense and maybe we dont want to spend even more money when we already spent a bunch on a computer. Plus only certain motherboards support DDR3. So that means we have to have the motherboard that supports triple channel.

Also on a personal note, why do you care what we do? lol

Price mostly. Even with the recent inflation of ram, its still cheaper to buy ddr2 at this point. DDR2 isn't bad or anything.

I still buy DDR. Only one ram bank on my board works and I'm not even sure if it could support DDR2/3.

I'm pretty sure the pin type is a little different. I think ddr is 184pin and ddr2 is 240pin. No idea what the pins for ddr3 are.

Because if i should go buy a computer or something, and i see that people who knows a lot about this stuff buys ddr2 then i want to know why so i know it when i am going to buy something.

Also my laptop got 4gb ddr3 ram 1066mhz. Isn't that pretty good?

Sounds slow considering ddr2 can be 1066mhz.

Then what is best? 1066 ddr2 or 1066 ddr3?

It's rather easy if you find a walmart or something that doesn't have it on locked racks..
