I installed Windows 7 a while ago, I just never bothered to post this before.

So yeah, I downloaded Battlefield 2 on my clean copy of Windows 7 and it lags way more than on my semi-highly fragmented Windows XP Service Pack 3. I tried closing background programs and I tried using Gamebooster, too. Any solutions?

Let me put it this way. My brother had one of those 11 years ago when he still lived at home.

I played it with and without Aero on. Both lagged at the same rates.

I got it for free. It's way better than my previous one. It had a 32mb Graphics card, 265mb RAM, 2ghz and a 40gb HDD whilst my current one has a 265mb Graphics card, 1gb of RAM (3gig soon), 2 Processors of 3ghz each and a 140gb HDD. So I'm happy.

You have ancient hardware, there's your problem.

The extra RAM should help to an extent.

It doesn't have 2 processors, instead it has 1 quite crappy processor.

Its called hyperthreading.

The i7 is only 4 cores, 2 threads to each core so it reads as 8 cores.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

your p4 is single core, but HYperthreading emulates another core for you.
